OK , so what do you do now? Wait! Your fish are stocked in a tank that is holding 1 pound of fish for every 2 to 3 gallons of water. With that in mind your fish will survive about 1 hour before they are floating on top your tank. So, are you a preventative kind of person or a reactive individual. The difference is, one person will foresee the possibilities of what will happen if they don’t have a generator for greenhouse. A gas generator is the one machine you can not do without or your entire operation is certainly doomed for failure. So lets explore a couple of different ways we can go to take out some insurance against this tragedy.
1. Generator for Greenhouse: This is the fastest and cheapest method to take, although not the only one. A gas generator for your home can come in various different sizes. If you have a small system you can get by with a 2 kilowatt system or a 2000 watt gas generator. Here is what you need to take a look at. Examine all the motors, pumps, heaters, blowers, fans and everything you have that runs off electricity. Now look at the label on each device and record how many watts it uses to operate. Total all of them up . The size of generator for greenhouse you will need is double the amount you are currently using on your aquaponic system. You do not want to over tax your gas generator by purchasing one that barely meets your needs. This would simply create a lull on the generator and you would feel it dragging to keep up with the electrical surge as a pump or other device would kick on. So i recommend you double the usage. For example , lets say your total wattage used is 1500 watts. Double that amount to 3000 and you will want to purchase at minimum or a 3 K or 3000 watt generator for home. The cost?? i like to figure on $100 for each 1000 watts. They come in different models, some have electric self start. This is a nice generator for greenhouse and can even be electrically wired by a professional to start automatically if there is a power failure. Some even have a remote starter that can allow you to aim it through a window and start it without going outside. Nice!! If you have ever had a lawn more that used a pull start and hadn’t been used all winter. You may find it becomes a strenuous exercise to get the dumb thing started. Spend the extra $50 dollars and get the battery / self start gas generator. I will recommend a couple for you to take a look at so you can see from my personal experience which ones i would buy. Ill give the 5 star to my favorite recommendation generator for greenhouse.
